enkel, which is headquartered in Dusseldorf, Germany, has appointed Monica Sun as President of Henkel Singapore and Malaysia as well as Vice President of Adhesive Technologies for Southeast Asia. The appointments became effective on 1 September 2011.
As President of Henkel Singapore and Malaysia, Sun will provide leadership and strategic direction for both countries in the adhesive technologies and professional hair businesses. She also has overall responsibility for the management of the two countries’ operations, which include a regional technical center in Singapore and three plants in Malaysia under the Adhesive Technologies business sector and two Schwarzkopf hair academies in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Henkel has more than 400 employees in Singapore and Malaysia.
As the Vice President of Adhesive Technologies for Southeast Asia, Sun is responsible for the profitable growth of the adhesive business in six countries: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
”With Henkel’s adhesive business being present at nearly 20 sites across the Southeast Asia, I see the potential for us to better leverage this scale so as to serve our customers better, grow faster than the market and gain market share. Henkel is already the undisputed market leader in certain markets segments. Our goal is to be the market leader in all our relevant market segments in the Southeast Asia,” said Sun. Globally, Henkel is the world market leader in adhesives, sealants and surface treatments for consumers, craftsmen and industrial applications.
Sun added,“As the President of Singapore and Malaysia, my responsibilities are two-fold. Firstly, it is to ensure that all Henkel employees—irrespective of their business unit and function—have a mindset that is built around “One Henkel” in their decision making. Secondly, it is also important for me, as a country president to be an ambassador of Henkel in the countries and to promote our image as a responsible and attractive employer.”
Since joining Henkel China in 1996, Sun has held various management positions, including Deputy General Manager, Procurement Manager and Business Controller. From 2000 to 2003, she was Regional Supply Chain Manager for Adhesives Technologies in the Asia-Pacific. From 2004 to 2009, she was HR Director and business partner for Adhesive Technologies in the Asia Pacific. Prior to her latest promotion, she was Vice President of Human Resources for Henkel Asia Pacific. Sun is a graduate of the Beijing Foreign Studies University and the China Europe International Business School.
