Frost & Sullivan's Global President and Managing Partner Aroop Zutshi was interviewed live on CNBC. He discussed why it is so critical for companies to look for investment opportunities in emerging markets in order to encourage growth.
Mr Zutshi appeared on CNBC's business programme "Squawk Box" where he highlighted a number of strategic pointers that would enable industries and sectors to flourish in the next generation powerhouse economies.
"Emerging markets grow at least three times faster than developed markets, and 75 percent of them have twice the GDP growth of leading developed markets. In 2010, 88 out of the Fortune Global 500 companies were from emerging markets," Mr Zutshi said.
Answering a question on why companies should also start looking beyond BRIC, Mr Zutshi said: "There are incredible opportunities for companies to grow. Mexico, Argentina, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nigeria and South Africa are the next countries on the horizon that will show outstanding opportunities. It is time for companies to enter these markets."
Mr Zutshi also highlighted the key reasons why emerging markets offer excellent potential which goes beyond low cost manufacturing and resources. Tectonic shifts in demand and demographics definitely drive FDI inflows in emerging markets.
When asked about growth potential for Africa, Mr Zutshi commented: "We believe that the African economies, which are also growing quite aggressively, offer very good opportunities in the long term. If we look at their growth rate, which was between 7 to 8 percent during the last five years, I believe they will continue to grow during the next five to 10 years". "It is important that companies start looking at these markets and evaluate them now, so they are ready when these economies take off," concluded Mr Zutshi.
