These practical workshops will introduce artists and practitioners to all aspects of establishing, planning and delivering successful community arts programmes, and the tools, methods and approaches needed to do so. Artists of all disciplines are invited to attend, develop new skills, and improve their employability.
The three sessions, which can be attended individually or as a set, consist of; Working with Young People and the Arts, Community Engagement through the Arts – Practicalities and Community Engagement through the Arts – Funding. The first session takes place on Wednesday 28th September, in Liverpool City Centre. Thanks to generous support from Liverpool Vision, places have been heavily subsidised to ensure the sessions are accessible to all.
The workshops will be delivered by Brian Dawe, Managing Director of SAFE Productions. Brian established SAFE in 2000 and has managed the organisation since. During this time he has developed, managed and delivered the creation of over 70 public artworks with a total budget exceeding £1M. Through its inclusive practice SAFE Productions has engaged over 5,000 people of all ages and abilities resulting in high quality creative projects and programmes.
Steve Judson, an artist who took part in the pilot session said: “I found this workshop the most useful I have ever attended. Brian Dawe was very engaging, explaining everything in great detail, and was very personable. I felt it was just what I needed to motivate me to proceed further and make use of my degree.”
