Based on its recent analysis of the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes ILS Technology with the 2011 Global Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Enhancement. Innovative products like the deviceWISE M2M Application Deployment Kit, take the M2M market from the best possible, easily managed connection development space to the best possible, easiest to consume deployment space.
ILS Technology provides a sophisticated, yet easy to use power tool that helps customers connect the dots without any added infrastructure or programming; it is offered at a reasonable cost and with a short implementation time frame. Platforms such as these are what enterprises are looking for to translate their visions into business innovations.
Technology advancements are a key factor in driving down cost while driving up elements of innovation. The commoditization of components like sensors, control points, and other field devices - along with the need to maximize asset efficiency and with the ubiquity of Internet - is driving the use of innovative and cutting-edge M2M applications. Common standards for network interconnection and the leveraging of common wireless infrastructure open up possibilities to efficiently connect and monitor diverse devices. However, the main challenge in the industry is to simplify the M2M deployment process.
"Implementation of a new service usually requires a different set of hardware infrastructure with suitable software and hardware connections between the devices, IT systems and service providers," said Laurel Donoho, Research Manager for Frost & Sullivan's Industrial Automation & Process Control group. "These requirements make the process complex, expensive and time consuming. While the industry standard of deployment is about six to eighteen months (dependent on scale), ILS Technology is able to deploy the M2M platform for an end user in a week's time."
The performance and sustainability of an organization depends as much on infrastructure as on human capital. The software platforms and integration between systems need to be highly effective in order to drive profitability. Hence, it is vital for any new technology that is being implemented to take into consideration several associated factors such as security, scalability, reliability, availability, flexibility, cost and interoperability. The onset of several hacking incidents has resulted in an increased focus on security features for systems and devices that can be connected through an interface. This is a driving solution providers can use to arm their products with enhanced security features. However, there are very few instances of solution providers that have packaged solution effectiveness with security.
"ILS Technology's deviceWISE M2M Application Platform (MAP) simplified approach allows end users to connect device-to-device, device-to-database (for inter-play of information) and device-to-application (to drive asset management and business processing) thus ensuring maximum flexibility and functionality," said Donoho. "Associated to this platform are the Remote Access Service features which allow end users to facilitate role-based accessibility, internally and externally, to the organization while retaining control of all the information flow and access."
Another way ILS Technology is driving growth in the M2M space is through collaboration with other service providers. This not only enables companies to leverage each other's strengths, but also provides a basis to understand new technology, and drive value to customers. While many solution providers are resorting to the ubiquity of the Internet and wired solutions, ILS Technology has expanded alliances with mobile network operators and mobile virtual network operators (MVNO).
"At a stage where remote device management service providers are struggling to expand business, ILS Technology has seen Wireless channel service providers (WCSP's) as a potent area of collaboration. ILS Technology's M2M Application Platform can connect perfectly with the WCSP's M2M service delivery platform which is traditionally limited only to IP connectivity," Donoho said. "By executing this collaboration, it is a win-win situation for both the parties, as a greater volume of traffic is channeled through the WCSP's network while leveraging ILS Technology's M2M Application Platform. This enables the WCSP to be an end-to-end provider of M2M service offerings."
The Frost & Sullivan Award for Customer Value Enhancement is presented each year to the company that has demonstrated excellence in implementing strategies that proactively creates value for its customers with a focus on improving the return on the investment that customers make in its services or products. This award recognizes the company's inordinate focus on enhancing the value that its customers receive, beyond simply good customer service, leading to improved customer retention and ultimately customer base expansion.
Frost & Sullivan's Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
