Cleandex, information-analytical agency published a new public report "Russia and the Ukraine: PV market review 2011" in the Cleanwatch series issued by Cleandex since 2010. The main objective of Cleanwatch series of reports is to promote cleantech notion and sustainable development concept in Russia and CIS countries and involve Russian and foreign investors.
Photovoltaic market development scenarios in Russia and the Ukraine are completely different. While in Russia investment interest surge in 2008-2009 was caused by state investment into production chain (ROSNANO projects), Ukrainian market development 2010-2011 was stimulated by energy dependence reduction policy and energy generation segment support by means of introduction of a “green tariff”.
Due to the green tariff efficiency, investors managed to launch solar stations with the capacity of 27 MW. By the end of 2015 the total capacity will amount to 450-500 MW. On the contrary, solar power generation in Russia remains a niche segment of the energy market with unclear perspectives.
The project was executed with the participation of the leading solar power plants in Russia and the Ukraine, including NITOL, ZAO Telecom-STV, OAO NPP Kvant, Hevel Solar, ZAO Minikristall, OOO Rentechno, Activ Solar.
