Entertainment television takes an adventurous leap into the future with The Trend. The Trend’s interactive series captures a worldwide journey into pop culture and provides audiences with an unfiltered look at the fashion, music, sports, technology and personalities that surround it.
The Trend is a one stop approach to channel surfing as the series focuses on the latest updates in technology, uncovering hot-spots in remote locations, uncovering an art gallery of fashion, to identifying new icons in music and sports. DJ Mad Linx, former host of BET Rap City, and model-actress Joli Robinson offer an "anything goes" and sometimes extreme look at our pop culture as no topic, task, or sport is off-limits.
The Trend surfaces around DJ Mad Linx and Joli’s adventures, seen in segments together for a hilarious wrap-up or fun practical joke. With The Trend, the hosts represent the types of entities currently seen in American pop-culture. DJ Mad Linx's quick-witted jokes and Joli's balancing sense of humor provide great chemistry which keeps viewers entertained throughout episodes.
As The Trend’s journey evolves, audiences stay connected through interactive features allowing them to tweet instantly. Viewers submit videos for a chance to be skyped in or featured in a Trend episode. Future plans for The Trend website will host various local and community topics, events, bloopers, and hilarious outtakes.
The series pilot takes place in the heart of New York City. Production is scheduled to continue in the fall with plans to cover additional locations across America. The Trend represents where pop-culture is today, but it will also give you a glimpse into the future. “You will be entertained and learn a wealth of information as the show progresses," says Executive Producer Ahlilah Longmire.
The New York Television Festival announced on March 3, 2011 that Ahlilah Longmire was a finalist in the Sony Pictures Television Format competition. This proves The Trend’s commercial present success as well as foreshadowing its future success and recognition!
The recent development of the official Trend website and blog featuring re-caps of the hosts summer travels, have attracted public inquiries and interest from industry affiliates. Multi-platinum producer Chad Beatz lended a hand in The Trend's official theme song and segment music from rock band Kronez. Director Anthony Sylvester, whose credits include Wife Swap, The Michael Vic project, and The Cookout is expected to participate in future productions. A rep for S.H.E is currently in the process of finding the best-fit television home for The Trend.
