Beverly Hills, CA, United States, 2011/08/01 - Professor John Burton, Chairman of the Emergency Medicine of Virginia Tech’s Carilion School of Medicine and Chief of ER Medicine at the Carilion group of hospitals in Virginia, is appointed Member of the Medical Advisory Board of US Tele-Medicine.

Previously, Professor Burton served as Professor of Emergency Medicine at Albany Medical College and Professor of Surgery at the University of Vermont School of Medicine. Professor Burton is Fellow, American College of Emergency Physicians and Diplomat, American Board of Emergency Medicine.
Professor Burton received his M.D. from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and completed his postgraduate work in Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a prolific writer and credited with over 100 peer reviewed articles, abstracts and papers. In addition, he is the author Emergency Sedation and Pain Management, an eminent and well received discourse in the field of Emergency Medicine.
“Professor Burton’s position at Virginia Tech is crucial in devising the newly planned curricula detailing the interaction between a Triage patient and the attending ER physician using a telemedicine platform,” said von Speyer. “ We note especially, Professor Burton’s role with the Association of Academic Chairs in Emergency Medicine, Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine (CORD) and for his tenure as Senior Associate Editor for Education for the Editorial publications Academic Emergency Medicine and Prehospital Emergency Care.”
In addition to Professor Burton’s accomplished literary and scholarly interests, he was awarded “Top Consultant Award,” given annually to 50 (top 7%),“CORD Recognition Award,” “SAEM Award for Excellence in Emergency Medicine,” “Attending of the Year” Award” an annual Teaching Award at the Albany Medical Center and “Maine ACEP President’s Award,” among others.
