In line with efforts to provide better service and quality to passengers, Thai Airways are planning to purchase 23 Airbus and 14 Boeing passenger and cargo airplanes at a cost of 118.6bn baht ($3.9bn).

The upgraded fleet is scheduled to be launched from 2014 to 2017 in plans to replace existing aircrafts while at the same time increasing the size of the fleet and will consist of six Boeing and nine Airbus planes whilst leasing a further 22.

The new aircrafts will be kitted out with more modern in-flight entertainment systems, more comfortable seating and of course the latest specification. In addition Thai Airways states the new aircrafts will help to reduce jet fuel consumption by around 1.3 percent annually and reduce carbon emissions by around 1.5 percent annually, also by 2017 the airlines average fleet age will be just 8.5 years, reducing from 11.9 years which it currently stands in 2011.

“Thai Airways needs to remain competitive against large scale or budget airlines, and upgrading their planes will not just benefit their company, but tourism into Thailand as well”, commented Ms Aileen Yong, Head of Electronic Marketing of Castlewood Group.

Thai Airways believe the purchase of these new aircrafts will place them firmly in the top three leading airlines in Asia and top five in the world for quality and efficiency of services.

Castlewood Group’s newest project (castlewoodgroup.com) the 8over8 luxury hotel in Phuket, Thailand will certainly benefit from Thai Airways new fleet.
