Open Kernel Labs (OK Labs), provider of embedded virtualisation software for mobile and connected devices, today announced that KONGSBERG, Norway's premier supplier of defence and aerospace-related systems, has selected OK Labs’ mobile/embedded virtualisation technology and will license OKL4 for deployment in secure communications equipment.
KONGSBERG chose OK Labs’ mobile virtualisation to provide strong separation between trusted and untrusted software environments and to protect security-sensitive IP deployed on the same devices as open source software such as GNU/Linux. The mobile/embedded virtualisation technology will find application in soldier-level and vehicle-based reliable radio communications equipment being deployed over the next several years.
