As a result of fewer pharmaceutical sales rep visits and the time constraints facing healthcare providers, fewer patient resources are finding their way directly into the hands of practitioners. Healthcare Resources Online (healthcareresourcesonline.org), launched in early June, is very different from any other internet based healthcare service: the offering is non-commercial and product-neutral, where all products are represented and the focus is on point-of-service resources for patient care. Many professional medical associations are now incorporating the HRO service into their member websites, as an added benefit. The service also features the ability for healthcare providers to connect with industry and peers, participate in market research and search the largest US clinical trial database using a proprietary easy-to-use interface.
