Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2011/05/19 - The ICLIF Leadership and Governance Centre (ICLIF) will soon launch Leading Voices, a new thought leadership platform for experts, leaders and top executives to share, exchange and learn from one another’s insights, thinking and experiences - ICLIF.org.

The inaugural session of Leading Voices will be hosted by Bank Negara’s Governor and ICLIF’s chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz who will deliver the keynote address. Another key speaker is AirAsia’s Group CEO Dato’ Sri Dr. Tony Fernandes, who will be sharing his practical and invaluable insights on business during the Leading Voices session.
The event will be held in Kuala Lumpur on May 23 and is expected to be attended by some 300 business leaders, entrepreneurs and Government officials.
Leading Voices is the latest initiative from ICLIF, which was first started in 2003 as a leadership development centre for the financial sector but has since extended its mandate to all sectors. It has also successfully built a strong regional footprint and in 2010 was honoured as Asia’s Best Institute for Leadership Development in Asia’s Best B-School Awards.
At the inaugural session of Leading Voices, ICLIF will also be launching a book – Too Many Bosses, Too Few Leaders – written by ICLIF’s CEO Rajeev Peshawaria. The book encapsulates ICLIF’s latest research on why some organisations drive sustainable growth and achieve their full potential while many others do not.
According to Peshawaria, Leading Voices will be a platform where people who occupy leadership positions at any level of an organisation can find pragmatic ideas and inspiration to better harness their inner convictions and to hone effective, transformational leadership that will make a real difference.
"Leadership is the art of harnessing human energy towards the creation of a better future. It is not about competency models. It cannot be learned in a classroom nor automatically acquired by accepting a big title or position of authority" he said.
He added that those aspiring to be effective leaders must individually discover what leadership means to them. Once they have built a strong foundation for leadership through self- discovery, they can then create frameworks and conditions that enable collective success.
Peshawaria has trained executives at several organisations including corporate powerhouses American Express, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Coca-Cola. At ICLIF, he has translated his own years of boardroom learning and observations into a practical framework for active leaders seeking to capture the hearts and minds of individuals, teams, and companies.
The ICLIF Leadership Centre was established as a not-for-profit corporation by Bank Negara in October 2003 to provide leadership development programmes for Malaysian and global senior executives from financial institutions and business corporations.
