WAV, Inc., the value-added distributor of mobile and rugged computing, wireless, security, RFID, VoIP and portable data-collection equipment, announced that it will distribute ARMOR™ Rugged Mobile Solutions from DRS Technologies to VARs and Systems Integrators serving public safety, warehousing and utility markets.
As part of the distribution agreement, WAV will support the ARMOR™ X10gx and ARMOR ™ X7 rugged tablets, which were specifically designed for mission-critical tasks that require connectivity, mobility, ease of use, and the durability to support all-weather operations. Both are certified to MIL-STD-810G for extremes in temperature, vibration, shock, and drops, and feature a range of connectivity options that go beyond WWAN, including Bluetooth® wireless, integrated GPS, and 802.11 a/g/n WiFi.

The ARMOR™ X10gx and ARMOR™ X7 draw upon many years of experience from military and commercial programs that have deployed ARMOR rugged mobile computers around the world and were designed to enhance the efficiency and productivity of an increasingly mobile workforce. “DRS selected WAV for their industry reach as well as their full range of expert services necessary to support the specific technology and value-added services needs of the VAR and Integrator community,” commented Mike Sarrica, Vice President and General Manager for DRS Tactical Systems, a subsidiary of DRS Technologies.
The tenth-generation ARMOR™ X10gx weighs just 4.7 lbs. and carries an ingress protection (IP) rating of 67, which means it is fully protected against dust and can withstand the effects of immersion in water to depths up to three feet (or one meter). Other features include a 10.4” sunlight readable, energy efficient touch-screen LCD display, and a 64GB solid-state hard drive with options up to 160GB that is user-replaceable.
The ARMOR™ X7 is a rugged compact tablet that offers hand-held mobility at a weight of 2.85 lbs, with a 7” sunlight readable touch screen display. Like the ARMOR™ X10gx, it has the durability to support all-weather operations with an IP 65 rating. It features the Intel® Atom™ processor N450 and runs Microsoft® Windows 7 Professional. Additionally, the ARMOR™ X7 marks the debut of the new m-SATA solid-state drives from Intel in the rugged marketplace, in both 40GB and 80GB capacities.
