Diablo magazine has received a MAGGIE Award for magazine excellence from the Western Publishing Association. The November 2010 “Special Food Issue” of Diablo was recognized as the best Special Theme Issue/Consumer in the competition.
The Western Publishing Association’s annual MAGGIE Awards banquet is the most prestigious publishing event in the West. Publishing professionals gather to honor excellence in print and electronic publishing in over 100 editorial, design, and promotional and event categories. For more than fifty-eight years, WPA has bestowed awards of excellence to deserving individuals and companies whose work is deemed “The Best in the West” in a wide variety of publishing categories.
The November 2010 issue featured Diablo’s annual Food Awards recipients,“Star Chef” profile of Commis’ James Syhabout, the “Artisan Suds” piece highlighting the East Bay beer revolution, and reader-favorite “Operation Cupcake,” a tour through the East Bay’s persistent cupcake scene, in addition to monthly Food Scene columns “Diablo Dish,” “Food News,” and “Critics’ Reviews” spotlighting local dining establishments.
