Waterbury, CT, United States, 2011/05/03 - On Saturday, May 7, Post University will recognize more than 500 traditional and online undergraduate and graduate students during Commencement exercises - Post.edu.

Post University will recognize the accomplishments of more than 500 traditional and online undergraduate and graduate students during Commencement exercises on the grounds of its Waterbury campus and via a live video feed.
Included among this year’s graduates will be 83 undergraduate students who attended the University’s main campus in Waterbury, and 313 undergraduate students, 52 Master of Business Administration (MBA), 45 Master of Human Services students, and 11 Master of Education (M.Ed.) students who completed their degrees through Post University’s Online Accelerated Degree Program. The Master of Education students represent the first graduating class for this online degree program, which was launched in 2009.
Although 300 of the more than 400 graduates who completed their coursework online are coming to campus to “walk” in graduation, the University also will broadcast the ceremony over the Internet for those graduates and family members who cannot attend in person.
During commencement, Post University will award an honorary degree to the Honorable Frederic E. Mascolo, a local attorney and former Judge of Probate for the District of Waterbury, Wolcott and Middlebury.
Betty J. Sternberg, Ph.D., former Connecticut Commissioner of Education and Superintendent of Greenwich Public Schools, will deliver the keynote address. Sternberg, who has spent more than 30 years in the field of education, also has taught at Columbia University’s Teachers College, University of New Haven, and Western Connecticut State. She currently teaches at Central Connecticut State. Sternberg holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
Matthew R. Ouellette, 21, of Bristol and William Anton Jens, 50, of Watertown will address the graduates as co-Valedictorians. Ouellette, who attended the University’s main campus, will receive a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Jens, who earned his degree through the University’s accelerated degree program, will receive a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. Both students earned 4.0 grade point averages.
Waterbury Mayor Michael Jarjura, Class of 1983, and State Representative for the 74th District and member of the Post University Board of Trustees Selim Noujaim, Class of 1973, also will briefly address their soon-to-be fellow alumni.
