Puppet School will present Puppet Jukebox – an adult-oriented evening of puppetry at The Complex – Hollywood on May 26, 27 and 28th. The 75-minute show is a culminating event for the Advanced TV and Theatre puppetry classes at Sherman Oaks-based Puppet School. The evening performances start at 8PM and tickets are $15.00. On Saturday there will be a family-friendly matinee at 2PM with seats at $7.00. The evening performances are for adults because there is some language not suitable for children.
Puppet Jukebox features a variety of puppets performing on-camera and on stage—with puppeteers in full view--popular songs through the decades, starting with a hit song from the present and working its way backwards to the hits of the past. The final musical selection is an original puppet opera.
Puppet School is the brainchild of 4-time Emmy Award-winning puppeteer, Michael Earl (formerly Mr. Snuffleupagus on Sesame Street), and business partner, filmmaker Roberto Ferreira, who together have founded a unique and fun place where imagination and creativity meet.
Until now, Puppet School classes have been taught to professional puppeteers and to actors looking to add a new skill set. “Now we have plans to expand Puppet School into a fun place where the general public can come and learn to act, improv, create a puppet and join our Web series,” says Emmy winner, Michael Earl.
Puppet Jukebox is the second large-scale live show that Puppet School has staged. The first was last December entitled,"It's a Monster World" which was a scripted musical. This time the production is more of a variety show format with a series of musical numbers from The Beatles to The Andrews Sisters to Cee-Lo Green.
