According to its website, the Driving Miss Darby Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded by Darby Steadman and her friends. Its mission is to support breast cancer research and patients enrolled in clinical trials. The main goal of the foundation is to reduce the burdens that trial patients face during their treatment commitment by defraying the costs associated with travel, lodging and medical expenses. The foundation works towards this goal by focusing its efforts on educating the public about clinical trails; supporting recruitment and retention of patients in clinical trial research; and providing financial support and outreach to patients participating in clinical trials.
