San Francisco, CA, United States, 2005/06/30 - Integration with Maxim's business software and the ability to generate PDF documents from various software programs makes pdfFactory an indispensable business tool..

Maxim Software, a developer of management software for mid-sized businesses has selected FinePrint Software's pdfFactory, a low-cost alternative to Adobe Acrobat for converting documents to Portable Document Format (PDF). In addition, pdfFactory provides interface capabilities that integrate with the company's own software; enabling clients to produce PDF reports directly from Maxim's application.
In its day-to-day business operations, Maxim frequently encountered difficulties with distributing readable documents to clients; a result of the wide variety of software programs used to create them. By incorporating PDF-writing capabilities into its programs, Maxim was able to easily solve the problem.
Maxim researched a large number of PDF creation software products and discovered that FinePrint’s pdfFactory not only resolved the issue, but also offered a developer’s kit that made the process of integration with its own software product, easy. With pdfFactory, users can now view Maxim reports as PDFs and email them to employees or clients. An additional benefit is that users can leverage pdfFactory for any of their other printing or electronic file sharing requirements and now have the capability to combine Maxim reports with Word or Excel outputs.
"PDF has been established as the industry standard for saving documents produced in a variety of applications to a format that could be read by anyone," explains Robert Skellern, spokesman for Maxim Software. "Unfortunately, the most commonly used application for converting documents to PDF, Adobe® Acrobat, is too costly for most businesses to deploy enterprise-wide and includes features that most users do not require."
With pdfFactory, Maxim is able to create PDF templates of commonly used business documents, such as invoices and purchase orders. The documents can be automatically named and emailed in a convenient, uniform format that is easily viewed or printed—regardless of the type of application the report was generated from. Further, Maxim is able to interface from its own business management software, enabling clients to produce PDF reports directly from the Maxim application.
Maxim Software has implemented pdfFactory in its daily operations, generating PDFs of reports that can be shared with anyone while offering a new PDF-generation capability to users of its own business management software.
