Salient Management Co. in Horseheads has signed an exclusive distribution agreement for its data mining software program with a Japanese electronics material and software firm.
The deal with Emori & Co. Ltd was formalized last week at a signing ceremony held at Salient's headquarters offices on Colonial Drive. Emori was founded in 1906, has 1,050 employees and is headquartered in Fukui City, Japan, with offices throughout Asia and in Los Angeles.
In addition to information technology services and software sales, Emori does business in several manufacturing sectors, including distribution of chemicals, electronic materials, synthetic resins, dyes and textiles and ecology products. Within its IT business, Emori serves the banking, logistics, packaging, OEM applications and systems development sectors.
Salient's product is used by retailers, distributors, consumer packaged goods manufacturers, health care companies and government organizations. The software enables users to improve management efficiency and is the same product Chemung County is using to control its Medicaid spending.
Thanks to strong demand in key industries such as manufacturing, Emori projects that it business intelligence sales will reach about $24.5 million by 2016. Sometime next month, both companies will begin a training exchange program. Salient (salient.com) will send a training team to Japan and Emori will send employees to Horseheads for an extended training period.
"We are very excited to be working with such a successful and reputable company as Emori & Co.," Salient President Guy Amisano said in a statement. "We have already achieved much success on our own in Japan providing our solution to a major Japanese retail chain."
Emori spent a great deal of time evaluating Salient's product and looking closely at the competition before putting together a five-year marketing plan.
"We look forward to a great relationship that yields a win-win-win proposition for our company, for Emori and for our prospective customers in Japan," Amisano said.
