Santa Barbara, CA, United States, 2006/09/18 - Antioch University Southern California at Santa Barbara has recently appointed Michael Mulnix, Ph.D., a veteran academic scholar, researcher and senior-level administrator as University Provost.

Dr. Mulnix will play an active role in the Santa Barbara community to strengthen and expand on the university's existing involvement with many constituencies,” said Richard Whitney, Ph.D., Academic Dean of Antioch University Santa Barbara. “His proven track record in institutional advancement will strengthen Antioch's pursuit of its mission in academic excellence, experiential learning and social justice.”
Dr. Mulnix comes to Antioch University after most recently serving as Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research at University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas, where he developed academic policies as well as oversaw enrollment management and marketing for all graduate academic programs. He has also held several senior-level administrator positions and other administrative roles at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Alaska-Southeast and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.
In 2004, UIW honored Dr. Mulnix with the Mother Columkille Colbert Service Award for his faculty leadership in exemplifying and embracing social justice within a global perspective. The Mother Columkille Colbert Service Award, established to honor the memory of Mother Columkille Colbert, CCVI, past dean and college president of UIW, is given annually to members in the academic community who have created substantial social change and educational improvements.
Dr. Mulnix received his doctorate in Public Communication from the University of Maryland where his doctoral dissertation focused on the higher education market titled, “The Focus, Scope and Structure of Higher Education Marketing: Expanding the Public Relations Paradigm.”
