Chicago, IL, United States, 2011/03/03 - SRR announced the addition of Mr. Edward J. Plawecki, Jr., Esq., as General Counsel & Director of Government Relations.

SRR is a financial advisory firm that specializes in investment banking, valuation and financial opinions, dispute advisory and forensic services. SRR’s offices are located in Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Los Angeles New York, and Washington D.C. Mr. Plawecki will be located in the firm’s Detroit, MI office.
Mr. Plawecki has extensive experience in the areas of litigation and risk management, corporate law, labor and employment law, bankruptcy, mergers and acquisitions, alternative dispute resolution practices, international law, intellectual property, municipal and governmental law, among several other areas. He was most recently a member of the law firm of Plunkett Cooney, P.C. Prior to that, he was the long serving Vice President, Secretary, General Counsel and Director of Government Relations at Comau, Inc., f/k/a Progressive Tool and Industries Company, a Tier 1 OEM international manufacturing supplier to the automobile, aerospace and defense industry which was purchased by FIAT S.p.A. in 1999.

Mr. Plawecki previously served as Chief Judge of the 20th District Court and visiting Circuit Court Judge in the state of Michigan. Additionally, he held several public service positions including Wayne County Commissioner and member of the Board of Directors for the Southeast Michigan Transportation Authority (SEMTA). He currently serves as an arbitrator and mediator in both the private and public sectors and has issued numerous published opinions and awards. In addition, he holds one of four permanent umpire positions concerning labor relation matters between the city of Detroit and the Detroit Police Officers Association.
In addition to formerly serving as an Adjunct Professor in Graduate Studies at the University of Michigan, he is a frequent lecturer on numerous topics involving both the private and public sector including international law.
Mr. Plawecki holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University and a Law Degree from Detroit College of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American Corporate Counsel Association, American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Detroit Bar Association, and the American Arbitration Association.
