This appointment will mark the first time that Cubix products and services will be distributed and fully supported in the UK. Jigsaw has a proven track record in the media and entertainment industries, and this complements their existing portfolio of products and services.
"We are delighted and very proud to have secured the distribution of Cubix GPU-Xpanders in the UK. We've been working closely with Cubix, NVIDIA and our other partners, such as Blackmagic Design, establishing a number of routes to take this fantastic range of products to market, " commented Lewis Brown, Business Manager at Jigsaw Systems. "We've already seen a lot of interest from both customers and resellers, which has meant that our initial order sold out before it had left Cubix's production facility, but we have since more than doubled the number of units on order to ensure we have them available off the shelf."
"Cubix is very excited to partner with Jigsaw Systems, Ltd., ” said Eric Fiegehen, Cubix’s Director of Visualisation and GPU Compute Solutions. “We see Jigsaw as being uniquely positioned to bring GPU-Xpander solutions into many different application markets within the UK and Ireland. They immediately recognised the potential for GPU-Xpander demand across all major OS platforms."
Cubix GPU-Xpanders instantly transform your PC or Mac Pro workstation into a personal supercomputer for running GPU-accelerated products, ranging from scientific research and CAE modelling/simulation software, to the latest high performance digital content creation, non-linear editing, and digital intermediate solutions — dramatically enhancing performance of these applications by as much as 50x-100x beyond the performance of today's multi-core CPU technology.
As Cubix are an NVIDIA partner, GPU-Xpanders can provide support for several GPUs including the Quadro FX, Tesla and GeForce series, maximising the benefits of CUDA-enabled GPU engines to enhance the performance of supported software, including Adobe Creative Suite 5 and Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve for Mac. Each GPU-Xpander offers an ‘independent life support system’ for each additional GPU, providing dedicated power and cooling systems that take the strain off your workstations and render farms, and ensure that you don’t violate their warranty by operating them above and beyond their specifications.
The GPU-Xpander Desktop 2 has been qualified by Blackmagic for DaVinci Resolve 7.1 on OS X, giving users the option to have up to 3 GPUs with a RED Rocket accelerator, as well as the option to carry out stereoscopic work on the Mac platform via a single x16 PCIe slot. The Desktop 4 model has equal capabilities and also accepts double-width graphics cards such as the FX 4800 and GTX 285. Rackmount versions of the Xpanders use 4U rack space and can support 1-16 graphics GPUs and many other industry-standard I/O controller cards or other PCI Express-based I/O adapters, making them ideal for data centres and render farms. Jigsaw will be offering both the Desktop and Rackmount models, providing options to suit a differing range of requirements across all market sectors.
Applications include:
• GPU-enabled rendering products from mental images, Bunkspeed, RandomControl, and others.
• Game development using Autodesk Maya or Autodesk 3ds Max.
• DaVinci Resolve for Mac colour correction.
• Acceleware ISV applications for seismic, electromagnetic, or financial modelling and simulations.
• Image processing applications such as Cinnafilm Dark Energy.
• Production broadcasting or cinema applications requiring high-performance GPUs, SDI or HD-SDI audio/video capture cards from Blackmagic Design.
• Multi-channel, PCI Express-based professional MADI and AES controller cards for PC or Apple Mac Pro computers.
Jigsaw will be launching the Cubix GPU-Xpander to the UK market at this year's BVE, demonstrating a realtime colour grading and effects workflow on DaVinci Resolve for Mac. This will be taking place at stand i32, where Jigsaw’s post-production consultants will be on hand to discuss how a Cubix GPU-Xpander can enhance your workflow. At the show, Jigsaw will also be demonstrating the benefits of GPU rendering on PNY NVIDIA's stand, A20.
