With the opening of it's new Nashville Territory, Rapid Recovery expands to service the Tennessee Market. This marks the 22nd location for the nation’s largest provider of refrigerant abatement. With locations from coast to coast and work experience in 42 states, Rapid Recovery continues to expand to service the U.S. demand for EPA certified refrigerant recovery.
Dan Melson, veteran of the HVAC industry, has purchase the Rapid Recovery franchise for Middle and East Tennessee. Rapid Recovery provides refrigerant abatement services for the HVAC, refrigeration, demolition and marine industries.
Rapid Recovery (RR) offers many advantages to contractors. They assume the liability, relieving the contractor of a potential $34,500 EPA liability per venting incident. RR maintains a “paper trail”, they sticker every unit recovered, document every pound of refrigerant removed and assume responsibility for its handling. Documentation is kept by RR, given to the customer at the completion of the job and as a year-end compilation that details all jobs done during the year.
With equipment that is ten times faster than typical refrigerant recovery equipment. RR saves contractor’s time that they can re-purpose to more productive, money-making activities. And recovery expenses are a “pass-through” expense for contractors on the job. RR tests refrigerant on-site with credit given immediately and no charge for many refrigerant types.
Cylinder rental is a valuable service for those contractors who want to re-use their refrigerant. For instance, if a chiller is out, the contactor may need to remove the refrigeration during repair. Putting the refrigerant into small cylinders would take a lot of time and require a number of cylinders to store it in. RR could use their ARI certified, high speed, gas-powered equipment to evacuate the system safely and quickly, then store it in the cylinder in which they recovered it.
One of Rapid Recovery’s most sought after services is recovering R410A because if its high pressures. Contractors won’t have to worry if their servicemen are using proper procedures and keeping the proper EPA records.
Dan Melson is a graduate of Murray State University with a Finance Degree. He worked for the Trane Company eleven years and then twenty plus years in wholesale HVAC distribution in sales and management.
“I always wanted to be an entrepreneur,” Dan said. “After research, thought and study, I was impressed by the Rapid Recovery model. It offers a great service that can actually make money for the contractor through the time saved by our service. We have had incredible, positive response in our initial presentations. We can do any job, from a single residential unit to a large, industrial complex system.”
Working with Dan is his son Bray, also a graduate of Murray State University with a Finance Degree. Bray has spent two and a half years in the banking industry is enthusiastic about the new company. “Try us on one job and see what you think,” Bray says. “We offer job-walks and a free estimate on large projects!”
Dan and Bray trained in Arizona, learning how the Rapid Recovery business works and doing job-site, hands-on training to familiarize themselves with the equipment and processes. They are EPA certified and familiar with all the EPA regulations needed to handle refrigerants.
Dan and Deb have been married for 32 years with two children. Dan enjoys tennis and fly-fishing. Bray is still single and enjoys tennis as well as golf.
