Prizes were awarded to fifteen Wiley titles in subject areas ranging from economics to biomedicine while Wiley’s new online service, Wiley Online Library, received the eProduct/Best Multidiscipline Platform Award.
The ceremony also recognized Life in the World’s Oceans: Diversity, Distribution, and Abundance by Alasdair McIntyre with two awards, the Award for Excellence in Physical Sciences & Mathematics; and Earth Sciences.
“Life in the World's Oceans was edited by the late Alasdair McIntyre, one of the world’s most respected marine and fisheries biologists, ” said Nigel Balmforth, Senior Publisher, Life Science Journals, Wiley-Blackwell. “I am delighted that the PROSE awards have honored this truly landmark title, a fitting tribute to Alasdair's immense contribution to the subject.”
The Education Award was given to two Jossey-Bass titles, Educating Nurses: A Call for Radical Transformation by Patricia Benner, Molly Sutphen, Victoria Leonard, & Lisa Day; and Educating Physicians: A Call for Reform of Medical School and Residency by Molly Cooke, David M. Irby, & Bridget C. O’Brien.

Four other major awards were received by Wiley titles: An Anthropology of Biomedicine, Targeting Protein for Kinases for Cancer Therapy; One Report: Integrated Reporting for a Sustainable Strategy; Molecular Orbitals and Organic Chemical Reactions; and Bias and Causation: Models and Judgment for Valid Comparisons.
A further 7 titles won Honorable Mentions in their categories: Silver in Organic Chemistry; Jimmy Stewart is Dead; Mobile Intelligence; A Guide to Early Printed Books and Manuscripts; The Handbook of Life-Span Development; In the Name of God: The Evolutionary Origins of Religious Ethics and Violence; and 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology: Shattering Widespread Misconceptions about Human Behavior.
