PHS West Inc, a manufacturer of material handling and transporting equipment, announces receiving FDA 510(k) clearance for its Ergo-Express® PTC1 Motorized Patient Mover. This product is designed to transport patients with minimum risks to hospital staff and volunteers. The Ergo-Express® PTC1 motorized patient mover virtually eliminates injuries typically related to manual patient transport.
Because patent movers in hospitals are considered class II medical devices, FDA 510(k) clearance is required. An FDA cleared medical device has been determined to be substantially equivalent to another legally approved marketed device.
Patient moving is one of the biggest ergonomic issues confronting hospitals as nearly 50% of nursing injuries are related to patient handling and movement. The Ergo-Express® PTC1 Motorized Patient Mover is the perfect solution for this costly issue. It can be used for admission and discharge, general radiology, physical therapy and rehabilitation.
In addition to its ease of use, tremendous durability and flexibility, the Ergo-Express® PTC1 Motorized Patient Mover has many unique features such as:
• Power-on-demand for inclines
• Seat swivels 180 degrees
• Dynamic, regenerative, electro-magnetic brakes
• Foot-activated parking brake for stabilizing vehicle during transfer
• O2 holder
• Patient chart and/or notebook holder
• IV pole
• Patient capacity up to 750 lbs
• Flip-up, adjustable, removable arms (up, down or off).
