Layer2 today announced its partnership with Nintex. This alliance offers a new and straightforward approach to integrating external Line-of-Business data with SharePoint workflows via the Layer2 Business Data List Connector and Nintex Workflow.
Nintex Workflow extends SharePoint’s native workflow engine to allow everyone to design, deploy, and use Microsoft SharePoint workflows quickly and easily. Nintex Workflow includes a large number of ready-to-use workflow templates and built-in integration capabilities to external systems using web services, ADO.NET, OLEDB, ODBC, LDAP, XML, and BizTalk Server.
“The new partnership provides Nintex Workflow users connectivity to external data sources from SharePoint lists, with the ability for workflows to be triggered by external data changes” said Mike Fitzmaurice, Vice President of Product Technology at Nintex.
Layer2 Business Data List Connector provides external data access using native SharePoint lists
Layer2, as a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, is one of the leading providers of Microsoft SharePoint extensions in Europe, with a major focus on Data Integration, Collaborative Knowledge Management and Social Networking. Layer2’s clients include well over 1000 customers around the world. One of their top-selling products, the Business Data List Connector for SharePoint 2007 and 2010 (BDLC), connects native SharePoint lists (e.g. contacts, events, tasks or custom lists) directly to virtually any external LOB data sources – in just minutes, absolutely codeless and with optional write-back using existing drivers like ODBC, OLEDB, .NET or 3rd party. All the well-known SharePoint list features are completely available without any restrictions, including the possibility to start notifications and business workflows in case of external data changes using Microsoft Visio, SharePoint Designer, Visual Studio and now Nintex Workflow. The BDLC, with its native list connectivity, that works in the same way for all Microsoft SharePoint platform versions, including WSS 3.0, MOSS 2007 and SharePoint 2010, solves many known issues with tools like the SharePoint 2007 Business Data Catalog (BDC) and the SharePoint 2010 Business Connectivity Services (BCS).
Customers leverage their investment in SharePoint and Nintex Workflow with Layer2 BDLC
“Many of our customers are looking to leverage their investment in SharePoint 2007 and 2010 as an application platform by adding increased functionality and the ability to connect SharePoint lists directly to anything in their IT infrastructure, e.g. databases, data files or systems for Unified Communication, CRM, ERP, DMS or ECMS”, said Frank Daske, Business Development Manager at Layer2. “We look forward to work closely with Nintex to ensure that their customers can extend the power of Nintex Workflow to their external line of business data sources.”
