NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, will join forces with Ação Informática (part of Grupo Ação) at the fourth edition of Oracle OpenWorld Latin America. The event will be held on December 7-9 at the Transamerica Expo Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Together, the companies are presenting integrated solutions for Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
NAVTEQ’s capacity to deliver the maps in a format native to the Oracle database was essential to the relationship between the two companies: “We develop a map format known as ODF (Oracle Delivery Format) that considers the needs of the integrators and consultants of Oracle solutions,” says Helder de Azevedo, NAVTEQ’s sales general director for LATAM. “NAVTEQ delivers a reliable, high-quality map in a format that simplifies the integration with Oracle solutions,” he concludes.
Navteq is the only world-wide supplier of off-the-shelf data in Oracle format for mapping, location analytics, geocoding and routing. Key applications which use ODF include Oracle Utilities, Oracle Business Intelligence 11g, Oracle Communications, and many other Oracle and third-party applications.
Ação Informática has been a value-added reseller for the past 23 years. Since 2009, the company has used NAVTEQ maps to support its clients, resellers and technology consultants. “NAVTEQ provides map precision that justifies an investment in GIS,” comments Marcelo Issa, Ação Informática’s director of marketing and channel. “An inaccurate or unreliable map not only jeopardizes the implementation of the technology – it also puts the client’s operations at risk,” he adds.
During Oracle OpenWorld Latin American 2010, visitors will have the chance to exchange their experiences with specialists from the sector and professionals from across the region. Visitors to the Ação Informática booth can also watch a GIS presentation about solutions based on NAVTEQ maps.
NAVTEQ has significantly expanded coverage of its ODF product for South America to include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, French Guyana, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. High level coverage is included for the remaining areas of South America for a fully-realized, complete release of South America.
