Air Canada announced cancellation of Boeing 777 and 787 orders. The first 777s were to be delivered in the early part of next year. The 787s would've begun to arrive in 2010 to replace Air Canada's 767s. The loss for Boeing Corp. is around $6 Bln. boeing.com/news/breakingnews/2005/050618g.html
Recent orders reaffirm Airbus’ leadership of the airliner business and reflect an increasingly strong market recovery. Airbus Hits Jackpot with a $33.5 billion Worth of Orders and over 280 airliners sold in Just a Business Week.
Easily surpassing the company’s prediction that it would have triple-digit sales during the show – with more expected in the coming days. They also included a new customer for the double-deck Airbus A380, Kingfisher Airlines of India.
Customers in the Middle East and India made up the bulk of the orders and commitments, with Qatar Airways announcing it would acquire 60 Airbus A350s and start-up Indian carrier IndiGo accounting for the largest single deal, for 100 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. Source Airbus Press Center.
During the showcase German low-cost carrier Air Berlin 100th Airbus customer has joined the Customised Lead Time (CLT) service for Airbus aircraft spare parts. Air Berlin will take delivery of Airbus A320 aircraft as from September 2005 and has a total of 60 firm orders plus additional 40 purchase options.
