Car buyers are flocking to the General Motors-owned brand in 2010, putting the Corsa supermini and Astra hatchback at the top of the charts throughout the year.
In 2010 both the Corsa supermini and Astra hatchback have held a monopoly at the summit of monthly enquiries on Askaprice.com, with neither moving outside of the top two throughout the year.
The Corsa has been the more successful car of 2010, with the Astra close behind in second place. The Vauxhall Insignia was the third model to appear in the top ten, making Vauxhall the only car maker to boast three models in the top ten enquired about cars in 2010.
In 2010-to-date Vauxhall has accounted for 43.3 per cent of the top ten most popular cars in the eyes of UK buyers.
The Ford Fiesta was the third most enquired after car of 2010, finishing third overall. It was followed by the Audi A3 and the Volkswagen Golf to complete the top five.
Askaprice.com allows visitors to the car buying website to buy new or used cars as well as offering a wide range of leasing and finance deals on vehicles, as such the figures are not based purely on new sales.
Vauxhall has therefore proved to be the most popular car maker based on its all round performance as its cars lend themselves to leasing, finance, outright purchase and retain their residual value on the used car market.
Overall, Audi was the second most popular manufacturer after strong interest from business customers and fleet operators.
Ford, buoyed by the continuing success of the Fiesta supermini and Ford Focus, was the third most popular manufacturer.
So far in 2010, Nissan is the only non-European manufacturer to break in to the top ten monthly enquiries with its Qashqai crossover – built in England at the Nissan Sunderland plant.
The Qashqai featured in the top ten enquiries in eight months out of 11, cementing the UK as Nissan’s largest European market for sales.
