It’s Not Me, It’s You: Getting over a breakup in the age of technology, by Marriage and Family Therapist, Dr. Matt Borer, explains how technology compli-cates the break-up recovery process and provides a step-by-step guide to healing from a break-up given all of the technological obstacles facing broken hearts in today’s connected world.
Recovery from his own heartbreak, researching countless romantic break ups, and his experience as a marriage and family therapist, allowed Borer to devise a step-by-step plan to recover from a break-up in the age of technology and social media. Borer’s book has helped countless individuals overcome the technological obstacles that were impeding their ability to heal to successfully move on after a break-up. The step-by-step process, as well as case studies and examples of real life break-up stories, are now available in print - providing therapeutic techniques, usually only avail-able to those receiving actual clinical therapy.
It’s Not Me, It’s You breaks down the reasons that break-ups are so complex, and provides com-mon sense answers to questions such as, “How do I de-friend my ex on Facebook?” and “What do I do when my ex sends me a text message?” Each chapter is broken down into themes, ranging from issues regarding cell phone usage, to ways to handle Facebook manipulations. Borer aims to provide a distinct plan of action and instill a renewed sense of confidence in those healing from breakups.
“Never underestimate the level of manipulation that an ex is capable of inflicting on you,” says Borer, referring to the destructive nature of Facebook when attempting to heal from a broken heart. “Technology has added a new barrier to healing and moving on from romantic relationships. It’s Not Me, It’s You helps people overcome this barrier for a healthy recovery from heartbreak.”
A book signing is scheduled for Thursday, November 18 from 6:30-9:30 pm at San Marco Book-store, located at 1971 San Marco Blvd. in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Borer will be signing books, visiting with readers and taking media interviews. Copies of Dr. Borer’s book will be available for $14.95. Call 904-396-7597 for details.
