Goya is a Connecticut-born artist who traces his roots back to the lands of Ecuador and Puerto Rico. Growing up, he fell in love with classical guitar and eventually Hip Hop, beginning an intimate relationship with writing in 1996. After the death of his sister and spending time in a rehabilitation center for troubled teens, writing and Hip Hop became Goya’s creative outlet. His writing evolved into a powerful form of spoken word through his unique ability to touch the humanity of people through his performances.

About Goya

Goya began performing as a slam poet in numerous venues, from V.I.B.E. Poetry Slam Competitions in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the Nuyorican Poets Café. He has given speeches and performed at University of Buffalo, Rutgers University, Binghamton University, Long Island University, Montclair State University, University of Bridgeport, Sacred Heart University and other various institutions along the northeast.
Goya made his film debut as a guest slam poet in the independent feature “Transformations” at the HBO Latino Film Festival in 2006. He recently starred in the short film “Utopia Lies at the Horizon”, which is currently an official selection for the Coney Island Film Festival in 2010. His past off-Broadway theater credits include Raul in Extremities & Richard in Crystal Clear, both at the Dance New Amsterdam Theater for the Actors Studio Repertory 2009; and originated the role of Hector in How I Survive at Manhattan Repertory Theater. Additionally, Goya is developing a new Hip Hop soul album called Spit My Soul, soon to be released November 23, 2010 at the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Home to many great luminaries of the acting world, Goya was granted lifetime membership to the Actors Studio in May 2010. His education includes a Bachelor of Music from University of Bridgeport and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from The Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University.
