NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Madalena - Pico, Azores, Portugal, 2010/10/26 - Sir Richard Branson has in his grasp the power to rewrite Christopher Columbus history! Christopher Columbus was not the starry-eyed explorer, as often depicted, but a cold-hearted spy.

The hot debate these days focuses on new documentation presented in the book “COLÓN. La Historia Nunca Contada” [Columbus - The Untold Story] Esquilo - Ediciones y Multimedia, Badajoz, Spain 2009]), whose authors want to sway Sir Richard Branson, Jason Felts, Justin Berfield and the Virgin Produced Film company from creating another Columbus film perpetrating the old inaccurate and stale views of history.

Columbus was a true James Bond of his day and even had a codename and a secret signature like 007 did.
Columbus was imaginative and ruthless to the point of killing his own brother-in-law (Miguel Molyart) with his bare hands in order to keep Miguel from alerting the Queen of Spain to Columbus’s treachery! Imagine that the man we have always been told was a “fumbling idiot” and “lost and confused” managed to FOOL the entire world for 500 years into thinking he was looking for India when he, in fact, only pretended to sail to India to trick his sponsors.

This new history of Columbus involves treachery, treason, murder, intrigue, assassinations, lies, fraud, and deception in a conspiracy involving a slew of undercover agents on foreign soil including monks working secretly out of the Monastery of Las Cuevas in Seville. A true Spy vs. Spy game was perpetrated by one Kingdom against its rival Kingdom and done so well that it has taken five centuries to unravel.
Columbus did not discover America he was instead the first explorer allowed by the King of Portugal (his true employer) to make public the news of already discovered lands. This is the new Columbus as is documented and painstakingly explained in this new book resulting from 20 years of scientific investigative research and Manuel Rosa, -along with Eric Steele who co-authored “The Columbus Mystery Revealed” (Lisbon, 2006)- would like nothing better than to have their latest discoveries turned into a film titled “Voyage of Betrayal” depicting Columbus in his role as the spy who tricked the Spanish Queen.

Since Spain and Portugal were enemies and fought over control of the Atlantic trade routes, in 1483 Queen Isabella planned the assassination of Portugal's King John II with the aid of two highly placed Portuguese nobles (Marquis John of Braganza and Count Lopo de Albuquerque) nephews of Columbus.
King John II learns of the treason, starts to arrest and kill the traitors but the Marquis and the Count, Columbus’s noble nephews, escaped to Queen Isabella’s court in Spain. This moved the Portuguese king to work out a conspiracy employing Columbus, who infiltrated the court of Spain, joining his traitorous nephews under an assumed identity and with the promise of a “false India” to the west.

Columbus was a Portuguese double-agent working in Spain on a covert mission to divert Spanish forces far and away from the real India and he succeeded so well in this deception that, not only the Spanish were fooled, but the whole world was fooled until today.
These new facts are all the ingredients to create a blockbuster film unlike the old dusty tale so often told. No one shall fall for the old story of an ignoramus Columbus lost in a sea of darkness risking life and limb to PROVE India was on the other side of the Atlantic. The discoverer was a noble knight fluent in Latin, Portuguese, Spanish, cosmography, geography, algebra, geometry, cartography, navigation plus a secret alphabet of unknown characters which he utilized to code secret letters to his brother when the Spanish commander was sent to Haiti to arrest him in the year 1500.
"It’s time we stop being fooled" stated Manuel Rosa during his lecture at Casa Museo Colón in Valladolid, Spain, "far from being a clueless dreamer, Christopher Columbus was a devious spy on a covert mission for the King of Portugal to trick the Queen of Spain in order to protect the route to the real India to Portugal and it worked perfectly."
This story is sure to make a blockbuster movie for the producer who takes it on.
