First-class Head Dr Colin Diggory joins Radnor House in key advisory role, bringing 34 years’ independent sector experience
Dr Colin Diggory, recently retired Head of Alleyn’s School, Dulwich and former Head of Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith has today (Tuesday 19 October) been announced as the Chairman of the Radnor House board.
This means Dr Diggory, who is based locally in New Malden, will have a central role in the creation of the new 7-18, co-educational school in the run-up to its opening in September 2011, and beyond. Dr Diggory, who has also taught at Manchester Grammar School, St Paul’s School and Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood, will advise on all aspects of Radnor House’s strategy, from the curriculum, the culture and ethos of the school through to the recruitment strategy, to ensure that the very best staff are attracted to teach there.
Dr Diggory also brings direct experience of setting up a new school, having founded and established The Latymer Preparatory School in Hammersmith in 1995. He has been a Chief Examiner at A Level and was Chairman of the London Division of The Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC), which comprises the leading independent schools in the British Isles and internationally.
Says Dr Diggory: ‘I am thrilled to give my full support and commitment to Radnor House. I am excited by, and am privileged to be part of, its vision to provide educational excellence for all in a truly unique, first class setting.’
Dr Diggory is the latest addition to a highly experienced Senior Leadership Team, which includes Robert Cook, who brings a wealth of independent sector experience to the role of Head Master and David Paton, formerly Head of Sixth Form at Harrodian School, who will be Radnor House’s Deputy Head.
Says Robert Cook, Headmaster: ‘We are incredibly fortunate to have secured the involvement of Dr Diggory. His leadership experience, gained over many years in London’s independent sector, is second to none. Dr Diggory has also served as an Ofsted assessed Lead Inspector of Independent Schools. He will, I am sure, provide sound strategic advice and positively challenge all the decisions we make, to ensure they are in the very best interests of our students.’
Radnor House will focus on academic achievement complemented by a strong programme of the creative arts and sport. The ethos of ‘celebrating every individual’ will be central to the school’s approach, and there will be a broad and enriched curriculum.
Parents wishing to learn more about the school will have the opportunity to visit Radnor House and attend open days on Tuesday 2 November, Wednesday 3 November and Thursday 4 November – see Notes to Editors for timings. More details can be found at radnorhouse.org
