While the fall months are typically associated with the beginning of the holiday season, the sad reality for many Americans is that it's a time monopolized by hunger. While many are preparing for a time of year filled with festive events, holiday parties, purchasing gifts and eating delicious food, additional strain and stress is added to budgets of low-income families. Unfortunately, during these struggling times some families find themselves seeking assistance for the first time. As the need continues to grow, the demand may soon overshadow the supply.
Feeding America is providing food to 37 million Americans, including 14 million children. This is an increase of 46% since 2006. One in eight Americans now rely on Feeding America for their food. Many families are now having to choose between food, rent, utilities and medical care. This is also due ot the fact that 36% of households have only one person working. The smallest donation can go a long way. Just $25 will provide 175 meals, $50 will provide 350 meals. Many people are now skipping meals and sometimes going days with no nourishment. In an effort to help keep this from happening Advance Realty (advancerealtyusa.com) has launched its Feed America Campaign. Realtor, Lisa Carvalho of the Advance Realty- Timonium, Maryland office quotes, "This is my 8th year organizing a food drive and I can't imagine ever not doing this. I enjoy every minute of it!!"
You can get involved in the Feed America campaign by making a donation or by organizing a food drive in your neighborhood or workplace. All you have to do is go to feedingamerica.org. They will provide all the information you need as well as collection boxes and posters to help spread the word.
Advance Realty asks that you help to make a difference in the lives of those that are less fortunate.
