To assist buyers to source from emerging Asian supply markets, the non-profit Kearny Alliance will showcase more than 20 Developing Country Sourcing Reports and nearly 100 product samples at the China Sourcing Fair: Home Products at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo Oct. 20 - 23, 2010 booth # 9G22.
The reports are comprehensive guides for sourcing specific products – ranging from garments and footwear to home decor and furniture – from verified suppliers in Vietnam, India, Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Each presents in-depth profiles of export manufacturer capability, comprehensive supply market industry overviews, product specifications and pricing. They are based on Global Sources China Sourcing Reports.
“We will again exhibit the reports alongside actual products from some of the suppliers featured in the reports. Buyers at last April’s show appreciated being able to see and hold the samples. It gave them confidence as to the quality of the companies we profile,” said Khiem Vu, manager of Kearny Alliance’s Developing Country Export Assistance Program.
“This October, buyers will see nearly 100 samples of kitchenware, basketware, cushions, lacquered lamps, trays and vases, gifts and premiums, hand-woven handbags, silk scarves and more. They can then buy the report to get full details on the suppliers of these goods.”
One supplier profiled in the report, Nguyen Xuan Phu, chairman of Vietnam’s Sunhouse JSC, said: “Many buyers are actually coming back to our company inquiring about nonstick and stainless steel cookware. This gives us optimism about the increase in export sales for this year.
“We are excited about the opportunity offered by the Kearny Alliance and Global Sources to help us get more exposures to quality buyers through the reports. We believe our samples at the booth will attract them for a test order.”
Sourcing Reports backed by in-person factory visits
The Kearny Alliance team visits each profiled manufacturer in person to interview owners and senior managers. The team also surveys all featured suppliers on export sales forecasts, R&D strategies, target markets and current challenges. All results are analyzed and presented exclusively in each Developing Country Sourcing Report.
“Given buyer interest in sourcing from emerging markets, we plan to double the number of reports we publish in 2011 to two per month,” Vu said.

The Kearny Alliance (kearnyalliance.org), a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) foundation based in Scottsdale, Arizona, partners with other international organizations to further its mission of ‘Aid through Trade’, to advance international development and poverty alleviation through trade-related business, education, training and applied research.

Surveys of beneficiaries show that suppliers have received $772,000 in export orders, and they expect more than $5,500,000 to develop in 2010.
• Education & skills development: The Kearny Alliance offers stipend support for students from Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and mainland China to study in Hong Kong and the US. The dozens of Kearny Alliance Scholars receive internships and on-the-job training in export-related companies and organizations in 10 countries.
• Trade policy research: One major initiative is an online center for data, analysis, and insightful discussion on U.S. - China trade offering Forum Discussions News & Analysis, Facts & Figures, Discussion Outcomes, Book reviews and Meet the Experts. This developed from the The Kearny Alliance – Arizona State University forums on China, trade and the world economic order high-level series of interlinked meetings – held in Phoenix and Beijing which explored potential solutions to issues and challenges of mutual benefit to China-US trade relations.
