LexisNexis®, a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow solutions, today expanded its suite of Web-based marketing services for law firms with the introduction of a new “local visibility” search engine optimization service. When customers take advantage of the local visibility service, LexisNexis employs best practices to enhance their positioning in the local results returned on popular search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing – ultimately driving more traffic and potential clients to their sites.
“The majority of people seeking a lawyer want someone who is local, so having a presence at the top of local search results is critical for law firms seeking to connect with prospective clients,” said Andrew Unsworth, senior director of Search Engine Marketing at LexisNexis. “The LexisNexis® local visibility service is an innovative addition to the suite of Web-based marketing services we provide to smaller law firms to both enhance their online presence and to drive their business development efforts.”
This new capability capitalizes on the fact that most major search engines now display local results at or near the top of the first page of results. Typically, even if the user does not specify a city or zip code as part of his search, the search engine is able to identify the user’s location and return relevant results for businesses in that area – both in the list of search results returned and also highlighted on a map of the user’s local area.
Local visibility services incorporate a range of activities that include development of firm profiles on local Web directories and social networking communities, tagging law firm site listings so they get highlighted in local map results, and content changes to the firm’s website that highlight local affiliations. The Local Visibility service also optimizes results for searches performed on mobile devices.
