Antenna, enabling business transformation through intelligently designed mobile applications, today announced it has been recognized as an innovator in its field by leading IT market research and advisory firm International Data Corporation (IDC). In the report “2010 Innovative Software Companies Under $100m” IDC credits Antenna with providing a new class of mobile enterprise software applications and platforms capable of taking advantage of emerging mobile hardware platforms and of providing access to complex enterprise systems and processes beyond email.
IDC sought to identify those companies who exemplified one or more of the following three key trends in the IT marketplace: Social Business Solutions, Enterprise Application Vendors Go-to-Market Strategies, and Mobile Enterprise Applications. Vendors were invited to apply and submit a customer case study and were judged by a team of analysts who drew up a shortlist of three to four entrants per category. Antenna was named as an industry innovator in the Mobile Enterprise Applications space for its complete, multi-device mobile solutions capable of meeting the challenges of today's hybrid IT environments, governance and security requirements and of providing a modern user experience across any number of different devices, networks, and configurations.

Most of the solutions selected for innovation demonstrated business value within specific industries for which technology such as mobility brought significant benefits. In the report, IDC also predicts that enterprise adoption of these solutions will accelerate as businesses focus on customer retention, increased need for innovation, and the need to compete in an increasingly hyper-connected and online world. Furthermore, the report claims businesses will shift their focus from technology and process to people, who will become the new enterprise platform. This suggests that the mobile interface, which is already the new enterprise desktop, could become even more crucial in keeping the enterprise connected.

The social web, cloud delivery models, and an increased use of mobile in the enterprise are all impacting businesses and the enterprise application software needed to facilitate business change," said Michael Fauscette, Group Vice President, Software Business Solutions, IDC. "Contributing to much needed innovation in enterprise software is a group of small companies with the vision and technology to help businesses deal more effectively with the new business environment."
IDC's "Innovative Companies Under $100M to Watch" reports are a qualitative evaluation of a set of vendors within a specific market – they are not a stack ranking nor do they represent an exhaustive evaluation of all companies in a segment or a comparative ranking of the companies in the report. IDC solicited entries from vendors of less than $100 million that exemplify specific key trends (selected by analysts) that are driving change in a specific software market. Vendors then submitted case studies that exemplified one of the trends used as the basis for the award. These case studies were evaluated individually and independently by related market analysts across several pre-determined criteria. The teams then met to review the scores. The case studies submitted for review had to demonstrate that the technology was available, able to be implemented and provided real-world benefits to the customer.
