The much-anticipated Bhakti-Yoga Kirtan album PEACE CHANTS has just been released by Montreal chant artist Lea Longo in response to her well-received, debut ambient album ZEN VOYAGE. Kirtan is an ancient and sacred genre of world music derived from India's devotional practices. This distinctive mix of music and chant can inspire, reconnect mind, body, and spirit; and lead to a state of deep meditation and relaxation. It has become known as the 'yoga of sound' and heralded as the 'new meditation' for its effectiveness in relieving stress.
Kirtan-inspired PEACE CHANTS combines Sanskrit and Gurmuki mantras, blending them with Turkish and Persian instruments, sitar, and modern guitar effects for an expansive east-meets-west musical journey that leaves the listener refreshed and rejuvenated. Lea's voice in PEACE CHANTS has been called "soothing and mystifying," captivating with pure, beautiful vocals for a relaxing, escapist listening experience.
In support of the PEACE CHANTS release, Lea Longo, along with musician Rad Crasto, will be touring fall 2010 with appearances in several U.S. and Canadian cities, including Friday, September 24th at Buffalo Yoga and Shakti Yoga in Buffalo, New York; Saturday, September 25th at Shanti Yoga in Ontario, Canada; and Sunday September 26th at Lotus Yoga Centre in Montreal.
