Sustainably-focused architecture firm 2 Point Perspective is excited to announce the opening of its latest project, ORA Dental Studio in Wicker Park. The Wicker Park studio is ORA’s fourth Chicago location. It incorporates the latest efficiencies in green design and best practices, and offers clients a stunning quality of space. “Good dentistry is a combination of art and science, and our design of the ORA Wicker Park office plays off that contrast,” says Lisa Elkins, president of 2 Point Perspective. Known for its commitment to environmentally responsible dentistry, state-of-the-art technology and “Five Star” customer service, ORA’s Wicker Park office also showcases the company’s penchant for modern design that is comfortable and green.
For example, 2 Point designed the office’s rectilinear reception desk to lead to a line of staggered, stepping walls that are softened by arcing forms in the ceiling, as well as waves of sculpted drywall. In the patient rooms, patients reclining in orange massage chairs will see an oval ceiling feature that mimics the design element over the reception desk, creating a cohesive architectural experience. Light as a calming element for patients is also key to the design, whether filtering through the eco-resin doors or around drywall soffits. ORA’s Wicker Park office focuses on sustainability through 2 Point’s design and through its own operations and practices. The office highlights recycled materials, from the welcome mat made of tires to the gypsum board walls.
Almost every appliance is EnergyStar rated, and efficient mechanical and lighting systems are used throughout the space. The office is paperless — even x-rays are projected rather than printed — and ORA utilizes reusable bibs, reusable tips and steam sterilization for sustainable safety. As a result of its commitment to sustainable design and healthcare, ORA Wicker Park has exceeded the environmental best practice standards set by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and GGHC (Green Guide for Health Care). ORA Wicker Park will be awarded LEED Silver certification. No other dental office in Chicago has received this honor. “2 Point Perspective was a perfect fit for us.
