Omnitrol Networks, a pioneer in delivering automated and predictive real-time operational visibility solutions, announced today that NTT Multimedia Communications Laboratories (MCL) has deployed Omnitrol Networks' IT asset tracking solution. This new solution enables NTT to track RFID tagged assets inside and outside of the office.
"It is essential for us to know where our laptops and mobile assets with key intellectual property are," said Federico Andrade, IT operations manager at NTT MCL. While new laptops are fairly inexpensive assets, their real value skyrockets when sensitive information is stored on them. At NTT MCL, that value can be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, owing to the company's advanced research and development activity.
With the OMNITROL solution, NTT MCL now automatically knows where all the tagged assets are, and can receive alerts when a tagged asset has left the property beyond a defined amount of time. The solution can also track assets in and out of highly restricted areas. As flexible as the system is, it is also unobtrusive, said Andrade. “The OMNITROL solution gives us tracking, but it's hands-off as well. There's no impact on employee processes whatsoever.”
“We designed the solution to work that way,” said David Orain, Omnitrol Networks' vice-president of marketing. “Our easy-to-configure smart agent software proved to have the right combination of powerful features at the lowest cost of ownership”, added Orain.
