Saint Catherine of Siena Academy Foundation secured a $33.4 million bond financing to construct a new all girls' Catholic High School.
Saint Catherine of Siena Academy (saintcatherineacademy.org) will be constructed on a thirty three-acre parcel of land by Lecor Corporation, a leading international project development and construction company founded in 1947. The 137,100 square foot state of the art facility will be capable of accommodating up to 700 students. The Academy will include classrooms, science labs, computer labs, gymnasium with second story running track, sports fields, and a 400-seat Chapel at the center of the building. Construction will begin immediately.
Saint Catherine’s first freshman class started on September 1, 2010 at its temporary location on Beck Road in Wixom, Michigan. The Academy will move to its final site on Napier Road in the Fall of 2011. Her students will work through a challenging college preparatory curriculum, in a faith-filled environment. The late Pope John Paul II’s Apostolic Letter, “The Dignity of Women” and his reference to the “feminine genius” are at the source of St. Catherine of Siena’s Philosophy and Mission. Also, the late Pope’s message to the young people at his Year 2000 Youth Day will be St. Catherine’s message to her students: “If you are what you should be, you will set the world ablaze!” The young women of the Academy will follow the model of St. Catherine of Siena by becoming stewards of the Catholic faith, sharing with the world their knowledge of God’s love by they say what they do.
