DVANDE, one of America’s foremost creators of mixed media art that incorporates color, form, motion and energy, has released the first elements of the innovative “Fragmentation” Series, his latest mixed-media effort that explores the relationship among energy, chaos and time.
“Fragmentation” is an evolutionary series of oil paintings that use circles to explore the notion that nothing is really static. DVANDE chose the circle as the focal point for “Fragmentation” because the shape is iconic.
DVANDE’s latest creation also incorporates some mixed media components to show how various movements, energies and planes can force people to explore not only the complex beauty of change, but also the discomfort of their own weaknesses and fears.
“I wanted the universal appeal of the circle to encompass more than just a form, but rather an adaptive form that parallels the changes of not only the world we feel, but also the larger universe that we cannot control,” DVANDE said.
The Fragmentation series (insert web link) represents a highly technical approach to creating multimedia art and took two years to complete, according to DVANDE. By incorporating a series of circles on two canvasses that are connected by a specially-designed 72-inch hinge, “Fragmentation” forces people constantly change their view of the piece.
“Ultimately, what the piece implies is that there is order within chaos and chaos within order,” DVANDE said.
Joyce Brooks, editor-in-chief at Black Tie International magazine, said DVANDE’s work represents a new era in contemporary art. The magazine has featured DVANDE’s work at upcoming shows in the Hamptons and Miami.
“DVANDE’s latest work is a wonderful example of how an emerging artist can use something as simple as a circle to capture the innate complexity that is the relationship among time, energy and chaos,” Brooks said.
