In achieving this recognition it becomes one of only a few law firms in the nation to earn the distinction.
In its newly constructed office at 1155 F Street N.W., Bryan Cave occupies 88,300 square feet of state-of-the-art space that comfortably houses a larger staff with expanded capabilities as a result of the Jan. 1, 2009, combination with Powell Goldstein.
“Because of the detailed planning process, the firm was able to design an energy-efficient home that accommodates its growth and provides the tools necessary to practice law, now and in the future,” said Managing Partner Rodney Page. “Our technology infrastructure, office layout and operational systems all were redesigned with the goals of long-term savings and serving our clients more efficiently. We have met those goals and are pleased with this recognition.”
The office’s sustainable design includes an array of features to help Bryan Cave enhance its service to clients, including cutting-edge conference centers, expanded green catering services and eco-conscious lighting and energy systems. It also boasts reclaimed wood floors from a 3,000-year-old building in China.
Representatives from Bryan Cave worked closely with building owner Douglas Development and OPX, the architect and interior designer, to influence key design decisions such as the technologically advanced plumbing, electrical and heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. James G. Davis Construction Corporation served as the general contractor. Jones Lang LaSalle was the firm’s leasing agent and project manager.
“All of the members of the Bryan Cave space planning committee believed that spending money on LEED certification was the right thing to do,” said Marie Woods, Bryan Cave’s director of administration in D.C. “Studies show that sustainable work environments not only improve productivity but create healthier and happier employees. A commitment to the health and welfare of our employees supports the firm’s core values.”
