NewswireTODAY - /newswire/ - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 2010/07/27 - Heavy-lift freight forwarding network the Project Professionals Group will hold its annual conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s second largest city, in June next year.

PPG members, represented in over 100 countries, voted for the Brazil venue at the conclusion of this year’s annual conference in Antwerp.
PPG general manager Kevin Stephens said it was timely to hold the meeting in Rio with Brazil gearing up for major international events including the 2014 World Cup and after Rio de Janeiro was chosen as the first South American country to host the Olympics Games in 2016.

He said Latin American economies were also experiencing solid economic growth driven in part by strong demand for commodities with the World Bank forecasting the region’s economy will grow 4.5% this year.
“PPG members have also been successfully working on project cargos in the region for some time, particularly in regard to supporting the renewable energy industry,” Mr Stephens said.
PPG member for Brazil, O Lisboa Despachos Internacionais, will be the local host assisting with organising the conference.
Managing Director Dominik Keller said Rio de Janeiro had an excellent reputation as a venue for world class business, sporting and cultural events.
“Hosting the PPG conference in Rio provides the opportunity to showcase the business opportunities and partnerships that are available in Brazil and throughout South America,” Mr Keller said.

Mr Stephens said the Brazil conference is expexted to attract ove 100 delegates from around the world.
Conference dates and hotel venue will be confirmed during the next few weeks, he said.

This years PPG conference venue was the Anwerp Hilton.
