Level One is the highest validation that TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association) awards in its TSR category (Trucking Security), demanding 100 per cent compliance from participating companies and their suppliers in meeting stringent security measures.
This validation is of particular interest to customers from the high-tech, automotive / industrial, healthcare industry as well as those who require day-definite secure transit for high-value and time-sensitive commodities. The increased security hardware and processes benefit customers with added peace-of-mind and more efficient tracking that allows point-to-point monitoring of valuable commodities.
These measures are designed to increase the effectiveness of transport security protocol, urge the adoption of more advanced security and tracking technology, as well as provide benchmarks for training staff in mitigating security threats both en-route and while static.
TNT, the leading global express integrator, pioneered the Asia Road Network five years ago. Last month (22 June), it announced a further $4.5 million euro (about S$7.61 million) investment in its successful Asia Road Network, bringing total investments to date to more than 12.5 million euro (about S$21.4 million). The Asia Road Network currently serves seven countries and 127 cities in Southeast Asia and China.

TAPA TSR demands 100% compliance from Level One associates
According to TAPA research, more than 62% of losses incurred on road freight transport happens en-route, or while the truck is away from the secure depots.
TAPA measures have been established by security professionals within the high-tech industry to address the nature by which high-tech products and materials are transported by road. The TSR specifies the minimum acceptable security standards for assets traveling throughout the supply chain and the methods to be used in maintaining those standards.
TNT has taken the TAPA requirements a stage further by deploying CCTV cameras on their fleet. The cameras, which can be monitored remotely, observe the loading and unloading of the trailer, to ensure quality controls at all stages of the movement of the customer’s goods. The cameras are also used to detect if the trailer is being followed and the control room is able to alert the police immediately of an eminent attack on the vehicle.
The Truck TSR validation further underpins TNT’s ISO 28000 certification, which was awarded to TNT in 2009.The ISO 28000 audit covered TNT’s integrated operational road and air solutions which included the Asia Road Network, cross border customs security and clearance processes. The audit also covered TNT’s tailor-made security solutions for its customers, which encompassed a risk based assessment of the customers business within the supply chain.
The Asia Road Network is seamlessly linked to TNT’s air networks and is supported by its multiple facilities across the region, most notably the S$20 million TNT Regional Hub – an integrated air and road hub located in Singapore.
