The winners for the prestigious What's On 4 2010 Awards have just been announced - and Enjoy-a-Ball is amongst them!
The award programme, which is again supported by Prima Baby & Pregnancy magazine, is now in its fourth year and celebrates the best activities across the UK, as nominated and voted for by parents.
This year, the awards are bigger than ever, covering 13 different categories ranging from Best National Pre-Schooler Activity to Most Outstanding Community Group Volunteer for children.
Over 27,000 votes in total were made this year, 13,000 more than last year.
And Enjoy-a-Ball from Chester, Mold & surrounding areas is the winner of the Most Outstanding Activity Leader for Children Aged 5 to 12 category meaning that they are top in the UK as voted for by parents. Enjoy-a-Ball is also the winner of the Best National Activity for Children Aged 5 to 12.
Enjoy-a-Ball (enjoy-a-ball.com) is a positive coaching programme that teaches girls and boys, from pre-school to year 5, a variety of team games and eight different ball sports - basketball, tennis, football, rugby, volleyball, cricket, baseball and hockey. Early on, the programme focuses on agility, balance and coordination then gradually introduces the core elements of the sports. Rewarded for perseverance, courage and showing team spirit, kids have fun whilst learning in a sociable environment under the guidance of a professional coach. With no more than 10 children of similar ability per session, each receives a great deal of attention and learns at their own pace.
Gary Bassett from Enjoy-a-Ball, said: "We are delighted that both what we do and how we do it have been positively highlighted by the parents and children who come to Enjoy-a-Ball. We started coaching because we’re passionate about encouraging children to really enjoy a variety of sports from a young age, which can open up options later to join junior clubs for fun or even at a competitive level. Most of all, though, the children we coach were really excited that we had the chance to have our picture taken with Mr Maker!"
From 8th March to end of April 2010, parents voted for their favourite clubs, groups, classes and party entertainers from all of the nominees that qualified.
The winners of the awards were announced on 27th June 2010 at the Baby Expo Brighton and presented with their award certificate by Phil Gallagher from Cbeebies Mister Maker. The winners of the community awards also received prizes for their groups including £500 for the Most Outstanding Baby and Toddler Group award sponsored by Halos N Horns.
And everyone who nominated or voted had a chance to bring their family to the awards ceremony to meet Phil Gallagher from Cbeebies Mister Maker in person, the lucky winners of this prize met Phil at an exclusive mini-make at the BabyExpo.
Every children's activity and party entertainer in the UK has had the chance to be nominated, making the awards a true representation of how parents feel towards what is on offer for their children.
What's On 4 founder Sam Willoughby, who herself received a business award this month, said: "We are very proud of all our winners and finalists who demonstrate excellence in their field as recognised by parents across the UK. I’m particularly humbled by the winners of our 3 community awards who represent all the unsung heroes giving their time willingly every week for children in their local area. I’d like to sincerely thank the thousands and thousands of parents who voted in the awards.”
