Future, the special-interest media group, has revealed an exciting new look for Digital Camera – its flagship, award-winning photography title.
As the magazine’s first major front-to-back redesign since 2006, the updated Digital Camera reflects major changes in the market, as lower-priced SLR cameras and accessories attract less experienced photographers, whilst committed enthusiasts seek newer, more powerful kit, and spend more and more time editing their images with Photoshop.
Celebrating the art of amazing images, Digital Camera also increases its size format and improves its paper stock, which allows the magazine to showcase photography more effectively. Increasing to 164 pages every issue, the new look Digital Camera promises more technique, kit reviews and inspiration for digital SLR photographers of all levels.
Responding to reader demand, Digital Camera significantly increases its product news, preview and review coverage, with the brand-new 29 page Kit Zone section delivering the industry’s most rigorous product tests thanks to an investment in the market-leading Imatest Master testing software. This enables enthusiasts to buy new cameras, lenses and other accessories with complete confidence. Readers can also find the answers to their varied SLR queries in the new ‘PhotoAdvisor’ feature as well as receiving feedback on their imagery from the editorial team, pro photographers and the magazine’s digital PhotoRadar.com community.
Accompanying the increased Photoshop image editing coverage inside the magazine, Digital Camera’s monthly cover disc has also been reinvented. Over the next ten months, the series of discs focuses on becoming a Photoshop expert, with step-by-step video content accompanying in-depth tutorials within the magazine. Starting off with a guide to the basics, the series builds into a complete reference library, explaining everything an enthusiast photographer needs to know about editing their images in Photoshop.
The new look July issue of Digital Camera comes packaged in a card wallet, and gives readers two great gifts: an in-depth 52 page expert guide to Landscape photography as well as a “Teach Yourself Photoshop” videodisc that boasts more than an hour of video tutorials. Inside the magazine, features include how readers can make cash with their camera, new section ‘Shoot!’ provides 16 pages of expert practical SLR tips, while sub-£750 DSLRs are the subject of a 14 page group test. Professionals share their top tips too, with landscape grandmasters Joe Cornish and Guy Edwardes, and Getty Images’ sports photographer Clive Mason revealing the secrets of their success.
Future is promoting the new look Digital Camera with a 16-page mini-magazine inserted into more than 300,000 magazines, including Classic Rock, Official Windows Magazine and Cycling Plus, alongside a digital sampler, available from the company’s fast-growing online photography website, PhotoRadar.com/.
