Dixon Golf announced today their sponsorship of the Desert Junior Golf Tour. The DJGT, which caters to golfers aged 8 to 19, will be known as the Dixon Golf Desert Junior Golf Tour going forward.
The tour maintains around 100 players, though membership is free and players can play at their discretion. The Desert Junior Golf Tour has run continuously since 2003 and tours around Arizona playing at different private clubs and golf courses. Players on the tour are looking to gain tournament exemptions with the American Junior Golf Association, as well as get noticed by college golf coaches.
The real aim of the tour is to develop players who will be lifelong golfers and good stewards of the game. DJGT players must take lessons in golf etiquette and abide by a dress code. There is also a code of conduct which covers sportsmanship and substance use.
“This partnership is one that I am very proud of, both personally and professionally. It gives us the opportunity to educate young golfers about sustainable golf, as well as make this Tour as great as it can be by getting the kids more access,” said William Carey, CEO of Dixon Golf.
The Tour will continue to be run by longtime organizer, Lisa Kaahanui, and no structural changes will take place. Dixon Golf will provide the golfers with golf equipment, apparel and other support. They will also give the Tour more exposure and present the golfers with more opportunities to play the game.
