Dr. Lawrence N. Gray, plastic surgeon at the Atlantic Plastic Surgery Center, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, spoke at the annual meeting of the New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons held in Hancock Massachusetts, June 4th to 6th, 2010. Dr. Gray has given presentations 8 times at this meeting in the past.
Dr. Gray’s presentation, given on the second day of scientific sessions, “Improving Results of Augmentation Mammaplasty Using the Axis Three Imager”. He showed that there been a significant reduction in secondary surgery and a higher level of patient satisfaction and that the imager has enhanced communications with Patients resulting in realistic expectations of surgery. Dr. Gray is the most experienced breast surgeon using this technology and feels it will be the standard of care within a few years. Dr. Gray also met with their chief engineer to make improvement in the technology to make it usable in patients who already have implants and for patients seeking breast reduction.
Presentations given at this meeting included “Patient Satisfaction in Unilateral and Bilateral Breast Reconstruction” and a discussion on trying to identify different what surgery is appropriate for these patients. The conclusion was that there is a lack of scientific studies at this point in time.
Another session was held on “Epidemiology of Vascular Anomalies from an International Referral Center: Review of 5,620 Patients” and “Frontal Sinus Repair through a Frontalis Rhytid Approach”
