Lauren Geber has been cast in the challenging role of "Medina Felice', a highly successful woman in every facet of her life.
When things begin to go downhill with no apparent cause, and all her skills and experience do nothing to halt it, her friends seem to be the only thing to help avert disaster. Though the focus is on Medina Felice's problems, the other characters have their own issues to deal with.
This is Joseph Villapaz's first feature film effort and promises bits of fantasy, mystery, romance, suspense, humor, and action.
"This has been the film I've wanted to make for the past 17 years," says Joseph Villapaz, "but couldn't because the technology wasn't accessible to me at the time, Now, I'm finally able to tell the story I hope some will enjoy."
The film emphasizes the importance of friendship in all of the characters lives without being preachy. "What I didn't want to do," says Joseph Villapaz, "is turn off audiences by presenting something that seems pushy. There is a delicate balance, between trying to convey the message in an entertaining way and just flat out say what's on your mind."
With great enthusiasm and a lot of ambition, the film will be submitted to several film festivals which include:
Big Apple Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival. "Winning anything at the festivals isn't my goal. I'm passionate about this film and curious to hear what people have to say whether it is good or bad. I need to know if I ever want to improve." Filming is set to begin Aug. 1 through Aug. 8 around Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Governors Island.
