The National Security Inspectorate (NSI) has just received approval to operate the BAFE SP101 Contract Maintenance of Portable Fire Extinguishers scheme, as a result of achieving UKAS accreditation for both Quality Management and Product Certification.
NSI was the first approvals body to introduce the BAFE SP203 Modular Scheme for Fire Protection Systems and has approved the compliance of almost 70 fire protection company locations across the UK. Furthermore, NSI was the first approvals body to offer both SP203 and SP101, providing a one-stop-shop solution for customers involved in both areas.
Pat Baldwin, Field Operations Manager (Systems), who co-ordinates the NSI’s fire industry activities, comments: “In the process of inspecting applicants for the BAFE SP203 scheme that were also involved in the servicing of portable fire extinguishers, it became evident that these companies would prefer to have both schemes administered by the same approvals body. As a result, we took the logical step of adding SP101 to our portfolio of fire schemes.”
